Before you share

Sharing guidelines & privacy.

You choose the AI conversation or excerpt. Check the original messages, remove sensitive material, and understand what could become public.

What belongs here

A selected conversation about something you wanted to learn or understand, including the starting question and the follow-ups. Beginners are welcome alongside experts. Mathematics, engineering, computer science, physics, economics, and philosophy are all starting points.

Synapse documents visible exchanges and optional contributor reflections. It does not expose a complete mind, infer intelligence, request hidden model reasoning, or rank people. A longer transcript is not automatically more substantive. This voluntary collection does not represent everyone.

Prepare a selected exchange

  • Keep original wording and enough assistant text to explain the follow-ups.
  • Label speakers explicitly. Mark omissions and redactions.
  • Exclude preparation prompts and their outputs from the original exchange.
  • Remove private information and confidential or third-party material you cannot share.
  • Write your own reflection. Disclose factual checking without implying editorial verification.
  • Include a source link only if it is public and appropriate to share.

No GitHub account, paid AI subscription, API key, or mandatory AI extraction is required. Source links are not automatically imported. Code and mathematical notation are preserved as text; nothing in a transcript executes or loads remote content.

Private review before public publication

You can submit a supported public shared-chat link without a transcript. It stays private and awaiting import/review. Automatic link import is unavailable: a moderator must import actual messages before review and publication. A saved URL does not mean a conversation was imported or verified. You can also paste the selected conversation text yourself.

A submission first enters a private queue. Moderators inspect the original and proposed public version separately, record edits, and check privacy and permission. Approval is a private state. It does not mean publication. An archive change is published only after a maintainer merges it into the public archive’s default branch and Synapse refreshes its validated snapshot.

What is stored where

Your draft remains on this page unless you opt into device storage or submit it. Saved drafts use this browser profile and can be read by someone using the same profile. Clear them on shared devices.

Submission stores the selected original, proposed record, permission statement, policy version, reference, review history, and necessary abuse prevention data privately. No contact email is collected. Public exports use an explicit public field list and exclude consent, account identifiers, private notes, and abuse prevention data.

The approved public record includes the transcript and public metadata you preview. It may enter the public archive through a reviewed pull request. A public pull request is public before merge, so privacy review happens first.

Contribution terms — mvp-v1

Review these terms before sharing. They apply when you explicitly consent to submission.

By submitting, you confirm you have permission to share the selected material, understand that it is reviewed privately first, and request publication of the approved public version on Synapse and its public archive. You should not include confidential information or text that you lack permission to share. Submitting does not guarantee acceptance.

Public reuse includes commercial use

For rights you own or are authorized to license in the approved public version, you grant CC BY 4.0. Others may copy, adapt, and reuse that material, including commercially, with attribution, a license link, and notice of changes. Granted permissions cannot be withdrawn while the license terms are followed. This does not license rights you do not own or control, including third-party text or rights in AI output. Remove material you cannot share; disclose separate permissions and required credits for private review.

Read CC BY 4.0

Attribution uses the supplied public display name (including a nickname or Anonymous), record title, stable archive link, license link, and any required credits or change notices. Separate third-party rights and privacy rights still apply. Website source-code licensing is separate; its source remains private. Abe is the initial moderator and merger.

Removal and corrections

Use the report and removal route with the stable record ID or submission reference. Maintainers review a removal or correction in the archive and refresh the website after it merges. Public Git history, forks, caches, and copies may remain. Complete erasure cannot be promised.

During the MVP, private originals, rejected submissions, consent and review history are retained without automatic deletion. Abe reviews deletion requests through the report and removal route. Removal from Synapse does not revoke permissions already granted under CC BY 4.0.

Open records, careful claims

Examples are explicitly labelled synthetic and are never presented as real contributors. Verification is contributor reported. Shared AI conversations can contain mistakes; examine evidence and sources yourself.
